Ice and Rain Protection Flashcards
What components are heated ?
Both windshields and all 4 side windows are heated
How many Window Heat Computer ?
There are 2 independent WHC
What is the role of the WHC ?
To control and regulate the heating of the windows and windshield and to protect against overvoltage (lightning strike)
When does windows heating come on ?
- Automatically when at least one engine is running, or when aircraft is in flight
- Manually before flight if the PROBE WINDOW HEAT pb is ON
What is the difference between heating on the GROUND vs INFLIGHT ?
It operates in low power mode on the ground and normal power inflight
Which probes are heated ?
- Pitot probes
- Static ports
- AoA probes
- TAT probes
- Waster / Water drain masts
How many Probe Heat Computers ?
There are 3 independent PHC
What is the role of the PHC ?
To control and monitor heating and also to protect against overvoltage
What is the particularity with TAT heating on the ground ?
TAT is never heated on the ground !!
What is the purpose of wing anti-ice ?
To protect the wings from ice accretion by providing hot bleed air from the engine to the outboard slats
What are the heated slats ?
Outboard slats : 3 - 4 - 5
What is the wing anti-ice ground test sequence ?
When the aircraft is on the ground, both valves will open for no more than 30 seconds to prevent slat overheat
What is the purpose of engine anti-ice ?
To protect each engine nacelle from ice
Where does the hot bleed air come from ?
From the 7th stage high pressure compressor in the engine
Where is the air exhausted after engine anti-ice ?
Vented overboard via the exhaust outlet on the side of the engine
