Verb stem + 고 싶어요
“I want to… (do something)” (used to say you ‘want to’ do a verb)
Comes from Verb stem + 고 싶다
Noun + 을/를 가지고 싶어요
“I want…(to have something)” (used to say you ‘want’ to have something)
Comes from Noun + 을/를 가지고 싶다
가지고 싶다 means that you want to have something
Noun + 을/를 원해요
“I want…(something) (used to say you ‘want’ something)
It’s not commonly used to say you want anything. Rather, it’s rather a direct, strong way of saying you want something. (It’s used in some songs, but it’s not the way people will speak to say that they want something).
Noun + 을/를 갖고 싶어요
The shortened version of Noun + 을/를 가지고 싶어요, “I want… (to have something)
고 싶다 grammar form: With what pronouns can it be used with?
This grammar form can only be used with the pronouns “I” or “You”. It is used to say “I want to…” or “You want to”
It cannot be used with any other pronouns (he, she, they…)
보고 싶다
Literally says “to want to see”.
It is also the way to say that you missed someone.
So just saying 보고 싶어요 means ‘I want to see you’ or ‘I miss you.’
