they normalize clas and blast cells and is important in maturation and maintenance of bone density

they promote normal muscle function, metabolism, coordination, development, healing, and regeneration
how does the thyroid hormones effect the brain?
important in brain development, fx, and normal IQ. its also important during fetal development and in childhood
it also regulates cognitive function, mood, and mental well being
how does thyroid hormones effect the integumentry system?
it influences normal blood flow to the dermal layers, temperature regulation, hair growth, sweating, and sebaceous glands

normal fx of lycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis.
effects lipid metabolism, cholesterol synthesis, and glucose utilization

what is graves diesease?
autoimmune disease due to the body producing antibodies that mistakenly stimulates the thyroid gland
- TSH receptors are stimulated by the antibodies
what are primary causes of hypertyroidism?
graves disease and thyroid tumors
what are secondary causes to hyperthyroidism?
thyroid destruction, thyroditis, takin excess thyroxine, medications
how can tyroid destruction happen?
result from
- hashimotos
-viral infection
- radiation therapy to the neck
what medications interfere with thyroid hormone regulation?
lithium and amiodarone
what is graves goiter?
an enlarged thyroid gland due to graves disease
another sign of gravesdisease is exophthalmos, explain it
this is a change of osmolality behind the eye resulting in swelling and inflamation of the tissue. this makes the px have bluging eyes
what symptoms do px have because of exophthalmos?
discomfort, dryness, and severe cases; vision impairment
