Hypertension Flashcards
Captopril
Class 1 ACEi (active prior to metabolism)
Aliskiren
Renin inhibitor, poor bioavailibilty
Contraindicated with ACEi and ARB in pt with diabetes
Losartran
ARB
Valsartan
ARB
Verapamil and Diltiazam
CCB; - chronotroph, - ionotroph
Nifedipine, amlodipine, felodipine
Dihydropyridines
CCB Major Indication
Stable angina, Unstable angina (verapamil and diltiazem), hypertension, supraventricular tachycaridia (verapamil and diltiazem)
Lisinopril
Class III ACEi: not metabolized and excreted unchanged
ACEi indication
Hypertension; CHF; diabetic nephropathy; Post-myocardial infarct; type II diabetes
ACEi Adverse Events
Dry cough/Skin Rash; hypotension; hyperkalemia (caution w/ pt. taking K sparing diuretics); acute renal failure due to dec GFR; teratogenesis; angioedema; neutropenia (Captopril); loss of taste (captopril); oral lesions (Captopril)
amiloride/triamterene
K sparking diuretic, inhibit ENaC in collecting duct. (weak)
Spironolactone/eplerenone
antagonize the effects of aldosterone at collecting duct
conivaptan
Aquertic: Mixed V1 V2 antagonist delivered through IV (prevents transfer of aquaporin-2 onto collecting duct) Treatment for hyponatremia
Tolivaptan
Aquaertic: oral V2 antagonist: treatment for hyponatremia
Minoxidil
K channel opener, Rogaine
