Explain the term rights and responsibilities.

A

Rights- The laws protecting every person in SA, even tourists. e.g: The right to an education, the right to human dignity.

Responsibilities- These describe the duties people must partake in. e.g: The responsibility to pay taxes, treat everyone with respect.

A

Right to equality
And the responsibility to treat others fairly and not discriminate against anyone.

Right to human dignity
And the responsibility to treat others with respect. Be kind, sensitive and courteous to all.

Right to life
And the responsibility to not to do anything that endangers the lives of others.

Right to freedom and security of the person
And the responsibility to obey the laws the laws of the country and refrain from cruelty and violence.

Right to freedom of expression
And the responsibility to ensure we don’t spread hatred or views based on prejudices.

Political rights
And the responsibility to vote in elections when you are over the age of 18.

Right to citizenship
And the responsibility to fulfil your responsibilities as a citizen by voting, paying taxes, obeying the laws and trying to better SA.

Right to education
And the responsibility to attend school, learn and work hard. Cooperate respectfully with teachers and pupils alike.

Right to a healthy environment
And the responsibility to protect the environment and animals, and not do anything that could harm or destroy it.

Right to health care, food, water, and social security.
And the responsibility to do not waste food or water.

Children have the right to be Children.
Children have the right to be cared for by their parents, family and caregivers.
Children have the right to enough food to stat healthy.
Children have the right to be protected from harm, to have shelter and to feel safe.
Children have the right to education.
Children with disabilities have the right to special care.
Children have the right to speak out and be heard.
Children have the right to be protected from:
•People, including parents, who hurt them.
• All kinds of physical and mental violence, injury or abuse.
• Children in trouble with the law have the right to be given special attention.
• Situations of armed conflict.
• neglect, punishment and abuse by caregivers and parents.
•grown-up work and labour, being forced to make money for others.
•all forms of sexual abuse and exploitation.
•harmful substances and drugs, the making of drugs, the selling of drugs.
