Human Body Organ Systems S2 Flashcards
What are the 11 organ systems in the human body?
Respiratory, Circulatory, Nervous, Skeletal, Muscular, Lymphatic, Digestive, Excretory/Urinary, INtegumentary, Endocrine, Reproductive
How many types of cells are in the human body?
Over 200 Types
Which system takes in oxygen and releases carbon dioxide?
Respiratory System
What are the busiest muscles in the body? How much do they move?
The eye muscles are the busiest and they move more than 100,000 times a day.
What is the largest muscle in the body?
Gluteus Maximus (aka your buttox)
What are the main organs of the Circulatory System?
Heart, Veins, Arteries, Capillaries
What is the function of this circulatory system?
The function of this system is to move blood throughout the body.
What are the main organs of the Integumentary system?
Skin, Hair, and Nails
What is the function of the Integumentary System?
The function of this system is to protect the tissue that lies under the skin, hair, and nails.
What does the Lymphatic System protect you from? What else does the Lymphatic system do?
This system protects you from bacteria and viruses (foreign invaders). This system so returns leaked fluids to blood vessels.
Which system is in charge of producing new cells? What are these cells called?
The reproductive system is in charge of producing new cells and the new cells are called gametes.
What other system(s) does the Excretory/Urinary System work with? How do these systems work together?
The digestive system works with the urinary system because the digestive system produces waste, so the excretory system remove the wastes.
What are the main organs of the Urinary System?
The main organs of the urinary system are Renal Arteries, Kidneys, Bladder, Ureter, Uthera
What is the function of the Urinary system?
The function of this system is to remove waste from blood and regulate body fluids.
What is the main function of the Muscular System?
The main function of the muscular system is for movement and flexibility.
Which 3 systems work closely together to allow a person to move?
The Skeletal, Muscular, and Nervous System
What are the main organs of the Nervous System?
Brain, Spinal Cord, Nerves, Ganglion
What is the main function of the Nervous System?
The function of this system is that it receives and sends electrical messages throughout the body.
What is the function of the Endocrine System?
The function of the endocrine system is that the glands and cells produce hormones for growth, development, and homeostasis.
What are the main organs of the digestive system?
Pharynx, Salivary Glands, Mouth, Liver, Esophagus, Gallbladder, Stomach, Small Intestine, Large Intestine, Pancreas
What is the main function of the Digestive System?
The function is to break down foods into nutrients so they can be used by the body.
What is the function of the Skeletal System?
The function of the skeletal system is that it works as a frame that supports and protects the body and it allows the body to move.
What are the main organs of the Respiratory System?
The lungs, larynx, mouth, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, Alveoli, Nasal Cavity, Diaphragm are the main organs of this system.
What is the function of the Respiratory System?
The function of this system is to take in the oxygen and release the carbon dioxide.
What would happen if the lymphatic system is removed from the human body?
If the lymphatic system removed, the body cannot protect itself from the foreign invaders.
What would happen if the muscular system is removed from the human body?
If the muscular system removed, the body cannot perform any movements.
What would happen if the nervous system is removed from the human body?
If the nervous system gets removed, no voluntary or involuntary actions will occur.
On each of the diagrams below, label the organ system.
