What does emotion research show?

A

Emotions are probably not located in the body, or the brain (no specific brain parts that fire during emotions)? Research is constantly changing. And emotions are caused by our thinking (researcher who believed emotions are all up to us, bc it’s controlled by thinking).

A

A

A

Facial rec. is a global process, we analyze the whole face. Feature oriented processing of a face undermines recog, eg verbally describing a bank robber interferes w recog. in a line up.

A

Novelty (race, age, newcomer etc), figural (bright, moving, complex), unusual behavior, goal relevant (date, boss), dominating visually, being instructed to observe the person, ppl who are more salient generally seen as more attractive (feelings amplified).

A

through encoding. biggest effect when prime then stim are as close together as possible, then wait (but not too long) before retrieval and rating. Lease effect when it’s a stim, then prime, then retrieval and rating.
