What is a Hormone?
A chemical in the blood which cause the certain cells in the body to react or activate.
What produces hormones?
Glands.
What are the three main hormones in the menstrual cycle?
FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone)
Oestrogen
LH (Luteinising Hormone)
Where is FSH produced?
The Pituitary gland.
What are the effects of FSH?
It causes the egg to mature and stimulates the ovaries to produce oestrogen.
Where is Oestrogen produced?
In the Ovaries.
What does Oestrogen cause?
It causes the pituitary gland to make LH and it stops the release of FH.
Where is LH produced?
In the Pituitary Gland
What does LH do?
It stimulates the release of an egg at the middle of the cycle.
What hormone causes Ovulation?
LH
What hormone makes the egg mature?
FSH
