Cells Flashcards
Name the parts of a human cell.
Cytoplasm Nucleus Cell membrane Mitochondria Ribosomes
What are all living things made of?
Cells.
What does a nucleus do?
Controls the function of a cell.
Where do most reactions take place ?
Cytoplasm.
What does the Cell Membrane do?
It controls the entry and exit of substances in the cell.
What do Mitochondria carry out?
Respiration.
Where does Respiration happen ?
The mitochondria
What do plant cells have that animal cells don’t?
Cell wall
Vacuole
Chloroplasts.
Do animal cells have a vacuole?
No
What happens in the Ribosomes?
Protein synthesis.
Where are proteins made?
The ribosomes.
What are cell walls made of?
Cellulose.
What is the purpose of a cell wall?
To strength the cells and keep them in place.
Where does Photosynthesis happen?
In the chloroplasts.
Why are plants green?
Because chloroplasts contain chlorophyll which is green.
What is the function of Chloroplasts?
To create food from light energy.
What are permanent vacuoles filled with?
Cell sap.
What organelles does yeast have?
Cell wall
Nucleus
Cell membrane
Cytoplasm
What is the difference between an animal and yeast cell?
A yeast cell has a cell wall and animal cells do not.
What sort of cell does not have a nucleus?
Bacteria.
What are the organelles of a bacterium?
Flagella Plasmid DNA Ribosomes Cytoplasm Cell membrane Cell wall
What are the organelles of a fungal cells?
Nucleus Cytoplasm Cell wall Cell membrane Vacuole Mitochondria.
What does a fungal cell have that animal cells do not?
Cell wall
Vacuole
What does a bacterium have that an animal cell does not?
Flagella
Plasmid
Cell wall
What is the function of the flagella?
Movement and sometimes sensory.
