What happens in the skin when you’re too hot?
A
1) Lots of sweat is produced - when it evaporates it transfers energy from your skin to the environment, cooling you down.
2) Blood vessels close to the surface of the skin widen - this is called vasodilation.
3) Hairs lay flat.

What happens in the skin when you are too cold?
A
1) Very little sweat is produced
2) Blood vessels near the surface of the skin constrict -this is called vasoconstriction.
3) You shiver which increases your rate of respiration to produce heat.
4) Hairs stand up on end to trap an insulating layer of air, which helps keep you warm.
