What was the conditions like in trench warfare?
Terrible, you could become seriously ill with shell shock which is a psychological condition caused by fighting or illnesses such as cholera, typhoid or trench foot.
Was it hard to try and attempt to cross No Man’s Land?
It was extremely difficult. Obstacles included barbed wire, shell holes and machine guns.
Why is it so important to remember the battle of the Somme?
It was the largest battle of the whole war.
