Q

Only God is to blame for suffering?

Agree point and explain 1

A

Point: Some would agree that God is to blame for suffering God is omnipotent (all powerful) and the creator of the World, so he must have created suffering.

Explain: If God were omnipotent, he would have the power to end such evil in the World, and love his creation enough to end suffering. And so, this calls into question the qualities of God.

Q

Only God is to blame for suffering?

Agree point and explain 2

A

Point: This is a strong point because for Christians, life is a test and suffering are part of that test.

Explain: For example the story of Job in the Bible teaches a faithful man was subjected to years of suffering by the Devil in order to test his faith in God, and God allowed this to happen. Moral evil as it could of been prevented but it wasn’t. This does question why would God allow such suffering to take place on a man who was wise, humble and charitable such as Job.

Q

Only God is to blame for suffering?

Disagree point and explain 1

A

Point: Some would disagree that God is to blame for suffering because evil exists because of Adam and Eve and the original Sin.

Explain: Due to “The fall” Adam and Eve turned away from God’s grace and evil entered the World because they disobeyed God’s command through their Free Will. As the original Sin is seminally present in all humans, all humans are capable of causing suffering.

Q

Only God is to blame for suffering?

Conclusion

A

In conclusion, I think God is not to blame for suffering. This is because in the book of Genesis, it teaches that God created the World good.

Explain: We see this in the quote, “God saw what he created and it was good”, showing he created the World perfectly as it is. Until the humans came along and gradually created suffering to the World. Moral evil as it could of been prevented. Proving that humans caused suffering.
