A

Contagious, disfiguring and deadly disease that has affected humans for thousands of years

Begins with high fever, headache, back pain followed by eruptions on skin that leaves the face and limbs covered with cratered pockmarks (pox)

20-60% mortality rate, 80% in kids

Was responsible for a third of all blindness
