Upanishads

Mahabharata
One of two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India, it is an epic narrative of the Kurukshetra War and the fates of the Kuarava and Pandava princes. It is the longest epic poem in the world
Bhagavad-Gita
A 700-verse Hindu scripture that is part of the Mahabharata. It is a dialogue between Prince Arjuna and Krishna, who serves as his charioteer. It addresses the moral and philosophical dilemmas faced by Arjuna on the battlefield
Ramayana
A major Sanskrit epic of ancient India, tells the story of Prince Rama’s quest to rescue his wife Sita from the demon king Ravana. It is a tale of dharma, devotion, and righteousness
Dharma-Sutras
Ancient Hindu texts that provide guidelines for ethical conduct, social duties, and religious law. They are among the earliest sources of Hindu law and prescribe rules for behavior, according to one’s caste, stage of life, and gender
Rig Veda
The oldest and most important of the four Vedas. It is a collection of hymns dedicated to various deities, composed in early Sanskrit. It is considered the primary source of knowledge about the early Vedic religion. Many of the hymns are still recited in Hinduism today.
