Important part for Hib is the marginal zone where PS capsules are targeted…this does NOT occur in the lymph nodes so asplenia puts you at higher risk

Can signal B cells to produce IgM antibodies

Can also bind to dendritic cells…they release BAFF which induces class switching and B cells can then produce IgG

Hib vaccine 1 and 2

A

First, tried to make it to the capsule but it was just an IgM response

Made a vaccine that targets the T cells by hooking it up to the tetanus toxin protein…loaded into MHC class 2 and presented to T cells
