Heard health approach:
- aimed to optomize health, wellfare and production of animal population
- vet makes regualr observations of herd and environment and analyzes data
- goal to improve herd health over time

Primary Prevention: maintain healthy population
- vaccination
- physical security measures (fences, showering… ect)
Secondary Prevention: minimize damage after disease has occured
- testing herd, removing risk (slaughter), stamping (identifying risk individuals)
Tertiary Prevention: rehabilitation after other levels have failed
- mostly focused on individual level
- reduce complication, progression, and severity of disease
- maintain quality of life if possible
- ex. diabetics, amputees, blindness care and rehab
