Hemolymphatics Flashcards
Is this finding normal or abnormal in young animals? What about adult animals?
This is normal in young animals - hemopoietically active bone marrow
This is abnormal in adult animals - bone marrow hyperplasia
This is dog guts. Give 2 MDxs.
MDx: Icterus
(causes: pre-hepatic: hemolytic anemia, hepatic, post-hepatic: obstruct bile outflow)
MDx: Splenomegaly
(cause: increased hematopoiesis)
What is the hemolymphatic associated lesion that Canine Parvovirus-2 causes?
Bone marrow depression and lymphoid depletion
Main MDx: fibronecrotizing enteritis
From a dog
MDx?
Metastatic melanoma
From a horse
What the heck is this?
Hemangiosarcoma invading the bone marrow (gross)
Bones from a llama
MDx? Disease?
MDx: multifocal granulomatous osteomyelitis
Disease: tuberculosis
(i think etiology is Mycobacterium bovis)
From a goat
What is this?
Lymphosarcoma
[tumor replaces marrow]
From a cow
MDx? Etiology?
MDx: serous atrophy of fat
Etiology: chronic emaciation
From a dog
What is this?
Multiple Myeloma
Lymph node from dog
MDx? What do you see on histology that is abnormal?
MDx: acute lymphadenitis
Histologically will see neutrophils which are not supposed to be in the lymph nodes
From a horse

Cat
MDx? What causes this?
MDx: lymphoma (lymphosarcoma) of cranial mediastinal lymph nodes
FELV infection
What is this? Etiology?
Jowl abcess
Etiology: Streptococcus porcinus
