Q

What lab values will be elevated in von Willibrand disease?

A

vWD is a decreased concentration of factor VIII.

As a result, your bleeding time (clot effectiveness) and PTT (intrinsic pathway) will be increased.

vWD is the most common inherited bleeding disorder- AD

vWF helps form the platelet plug and acts as a carrier protein for factor VIII.

Patients will present with easy bruising, excessie bleeding from trauma/dental procedures, and heavy menses.
