-National Industrial Relations Court set up for validity of strike
-Unions must put themselves on government register to retain rights
What was Thatcher’s nickname as a consequence of the reduction in government spending?
‘Margaret Thatcher, milk snatcher’.
-as a result of withdrawal of free milk for school children.
Why did Heath U-turn?
-Inflation risen to 15% by end of 1971
-Declining industrial output
-confidence with new policies shattered

-1972 return to policy of controlling prices and incomes
-Abandoned the notion of government not interfering with industrial matters
