Heart Flashcards
Pulmonic valve:
Sternocostal projection: L sternal border, 3 rib
Point of auscultation: 2nd, left IC space, lateral to sternal angle
Aortic valve:
Sternocostal projection: left sternal border, 3rd IC space
Point of auscultation:2nd, right IC space, lateral to sternal angle
Mitral valve:
Sternocostal projection: left sternal border, 4th rib
Point of auscultation: 5th, left IC space, 8cm lateral to midline
Tricuspid valve:
Sternocostal projection: midsternal, 4th rib
Point of auscultation: 4th, left IC space, lateral to sternum
Boundaries of middle mediastinum
superior—sternal angle (T4/5), inferior—–xiphisternum (T9) , lateral—lungs
Tamonade
build of blood in the pericardium leading to constriction of the heart
Pericardium
Made up of fibrous pericardium, and two layers of serous pericardium containing serous fluid to reduce friction
The fibrous and parietal stick together on the body cavity while the visceral is attached to the heart
Sinuses
Transverse sinus- passage above the heart between the ascending aorta and pulmonary trunk in the front and the superior vena cava, left atrium and pulmonary veins behind
Oblique sinus- space behind the heart, between the left atrium in front and the browse pericardium behind, posterior to which lies the esophagus
Coronary sinus
collection of veins that dump blood into the R aorta from cardiac muscles
Chorda tendinae
cord-like tendons that connect the papillary muscles to the tricuspid valve and the mitral valve in the heart
Musculi pectinate
right atrium muscles
Trabeculae carnae
found in the right and left ventricle
Moderator band
AV node
