heart 2 Flashcards
The first branch off the ascending aorta is?
Coronary vasculature, because if the heart doesn’t get blood than notring does
How many coronary vessels are there?
Two; right and left
What is the one major tributary off of the right coronary artery?
marginal artery
Where does the marginal artery go along?
Off the right coronary artery; It runs along the margin of the heart, tilted at 45-degree angle, closest to diaphragm under it
What are the two main branches that the left coronary artery splits into?
Left circumflex and left anterior descending (LAD) anterior interventricular arteries
Where does the LAD run along?
left anterior descending (LAD) runs down the interventricular septum, anterior
Why is the LAD called the widow maker?
It’s the primary blood supply to the ventricles, so if that gets blocked ya die
Where does the left circumflex artery go?
off left coronary artery, wraps around the heart to the left posteriorly
what is the prim?ary blood supply to the ventricles
left anterior descending (LAD)
What determines if a person has a right or left dominant heart?
If the posterior interventricular artery is a continuation of the right coronary artery it is a right dominant heart. IF the posterior interventricular artery is off the left circumflex artery from the left coronary artery than the heart is left dominant
What is unique about the anterior cardiac veins?
They drain directly into the right atrium and not the coronary sinus
Where is the small cardiac vein found?
along the marginal artery in margin of the heart by diaphragm
What are ALL of the venous sources?
Inferior and superior vena cava, coronary sinus AND anterior cardiac vein
Where do you find the middle cardiac vein?
Running along with the posterior interventricular artery on the posterior aspect
Where does the great cardiac vein?
It runs along the LAD and then wraps around to a posterior aspect
