Explain how you ensure your personal safety on site?

A

Follow RICS Surveying Safely practice guidance - and carry out risk assessment
Wear appropriate PPE
Follow firm’s assessment - collect all relevant information on site.
Consider:
- travelling to and from site
- lone working
- condition of property
- occupation (what activities are carried out on site)
- activity
- site rules and welfare
- roofs / high structures/ dangerous substances

Explain how you ensure the security of your personal possessions on site?

A

Include consideration prior to visit - only take what is essential and if possible keep on me - carry suitable bag.
- Ask for secure place to leave them - may be locker or office that will be locked.
- leave in car etc

A

On all site visits have worn appropriate PPE
- hard hat
- high viz
- suitable footwear
- sensible clothing
Would also check if gloves or goggles are required

A

Follow any asbestos mangement plan.
Wear gloves and if necessary mask

A

Carry out risk assessment before hand.
Only access areas that are safe
Follow RICS surveying safely guidance.
If any doubt about stability of walls / floors / roofs / structure then would consider if possible to continue with site visit or if need to halt visit.

LS project - how did you go about completing your onsite activities where there was no safe access available?

A

With caution - did not access areas that were not safe. Followed RICS guidance and safe person guidance.
Have responsibility for my own safety and take necessary precautions.
If that means cannot complete site visit then have to return

LS project - how does safe access impact on site activities, such as valuations?

A

Might limit areas that can be inspected and may mean that multiple visits required so that access gained when safe to do so - ie scaffolding has been erected or find alternative means of inspection - by drone? Increase cost to client but maintains safety.
