What is the H&S executive?
This is the body which is responsible for enforcing H&S legislation. (Like the H&S at work (NI) Order 1978)
What are the advantages of the H&S executive?
Reduced staff absentee rates as a result of lower injury rates.
Increased staff motivation.
Protection against negligence claims.
Disadvantages of the H&S executive?
It takes time to ensure they meet all the necessary H&S requirements.
The cost of H&S legislation Businesses in general but small businesses in particular.
How does H&S legislation increase costs?
Increased purchasing costs as firms have to buy specialist equipment or protective clothing.
Increased administration costs associated with carrying out risk assessments.
Increased labour costs as a result of having to provide specialist training and supervision.
