A
  • gains dorsum of hand at anatomical snuff box
  • passes between heads of 1st dorsal interosseous muscle
  • crosses medially btw adductor pollicis heads
  • anastomose with deep branch of ulnar artery to form deep palmar arterial arch

  • forms dorsal carpal arch by anastomosing with like branch on ulnar

  • go to fingers to form dorsal digital arteries
  • *1st dorsal metalcarpal- radial artery
  • **5th dorsal metacarpal- ulnar artery

  • passes dorsally near styloid process

  • innervates skin on medial dorsum of hand, ulnar side 4th digit and entire 5th digit

  • has 2 branches:
    1. lateral branch

  • provdes 4 dorsal digital nerves
  • innervates lateral dorsum of hand, dorsum of ulnar side of thumb, dorsum of index finger, radial half go dorsum of middle finger
  • *distal portions are innervated by median nerve
