17
Q

Which nerve innervates the medial 2 lumbricals?

A

Ulnar nerve

18
Q

What are the two groups of interossei and what are their functions?

A

Palmar - adduction of fingers

Dorsal - abduction of fingers

19
Q

Which nerve innervates the dorsal interossei?

A

Ulnar nerve

20
Q

Which nerve innervates the palmar interossei?

A

Ulnar nerve

21
Q

What does the median nerve supply?

A

Thenar muscles

First and second lumbricals

22
Q

What does the ulnar nerve supply?

A

Hypothenar muscles
Third and fourth lumbricals
Adductor pollicis
All interosseus muscles

23
Q

What does the radial nerve supply in the hand?

A

No motor branches

But does send sensory branches to dorsal aspect

24
Q

What is the blood supply to the hand?

A

Radial artery

Ulnar artery

25
Q

What is the venous drainage of the hand?

A

Superficial/ deep venous palmar arch –> cephalic vein

26
Q

What is skier’s thumb?

A

Injury to ulnar collateral ligament of metacarpophalangeal joint
(Fall on outstretched thumb)

27
Q

What is mallet finger?

A

Tear of tendon that straightens end of finger

28
Q

What is trigger finger?

A

Finger locks as it is bent towards palm
Due to thickening of mouth of a tendon tunnel - tendon catches in it
More common in Type 1 diabetics and RA patients

29
Q

What is Dupuytren’s contracture?

A

Shortening, thickening, fibrosis of palmar fascia

often 4th and 5th digits

30
Q

Which joint of the hand is commonly affected by osteoarthritis?

A

Joint between the metacarpal and trapezium bones (base of thumb)
Due to loss of cartilage

31
Q

What is the difference in joints affected by rheumatoid arthritis vs osteoarthritis?

A

Osteoarthritis preferentially affects distal pharangeal joints
