Q

Give examples of stored energy and how it can be controlled on the Haliade X.

A

Converter DC Link – Disconnect from power supply (Generator & Switchgear) and Isolate in accordance with AWP, apply the DC link grounding switch and allow to discharge. Prove dead at points disclosed in AWP and point of work.

Hydraulic system pressure – Isolate the HPU pump to stop the building of pressure, isolate the section where work is being carried out, vent and drain pressure. Test system pressure with a manometer and prove dead at points disclosed in AWP and point of work.
(Possibly vent N2 pressure from accumulator)

UPS batteries – Disconnect batteries from power source and cover battery terminals.

ACB charged springs – Follow manufacturers guidance (isolate from power supply if auto
charging).

Q

How do you apply the rotor lock and lock the hub into a set position?

A
  • Access and log into the MKVI HMI.
  • Stop the turbine.
  • Go to the rotor lock tab of the HMI.
  • Set the locking procedure to “Automatic”, in the top right of the page.
  • Select one position of the potential twelve and select “lock”.
  • 3 position sensors will align and show as green on the HMI locking page once the rotor is in position.
  • Visually, you can check the locking pin motors to ensure that the pins have been extended.
  • Then, manually you will screw in four manual locks across the top four motors. This prevents pin retraction and gives you access to four castell keys which will give access to the hub.
