ESP 5 - POI Application - Planned Work Flashcards
What are the two types of system that may require proving dead tests?
- Electrical systems/components, using a Voltage Absence Tester (VAT)
- Hydraulic systems, using a manometer.
When using any testing equipment, what must be done prior to its use?
Pre-use check, ensuring the equipment is approved according to the “Approved List of CoHE Tools and Equipment”. Also ensure the is in good working condition, calibrated and in date.
How do you test for dead on an electrical system?
Carry out the test according to the AWP i.e. test the terminals stated.
- Prove the voltage absence tester using the proving unit.
- Test at the terminals stated on the AWP.
- Prove the voltage absence tester again using the proving unit.
How do you test for dead on a Hydraulic system?
- Ensure all isolations are carried out according to the AWP.
- The system’s power supply must be isolated i.e. the pump.
- Vent the system in accordance with the AWP.
- Use an approved and calibrated manometer to prove zero pressure at the points stated in the AWP.
Take into consideration any accumulators within the system, ensuring that accumulator pressure is also reduced to zero.
When must the Pre-Task Briefing (PTB) be carried out?
After POI implementation and before the start of work. After this, personal locks must be applied to the lockbox.
What must the Pre-Task Briefing cover?
- Any hazards associated with the task and control measures.
- Points of isolation.
- Work scope involved within the task.
- PPE to be used.
- If a ROMP is required throughout the task.
The work can be started and carried out only when…
- Transfer of control has been enacted with the OC.
- Local control has been established.
- General safety has been established.
- POI’s have been implemented.
- Pre-Task Brief has been carried out and all personnel have signed onto the brief.
Where can you find the Emergency Evacuation information?
- At TP level inside the tower (Site dependent).
- At Nacelle level (Site dependent).
What information can be found on the Emergency Evacuation sticker?
- Escape routes.
- Fire blanket location.
- Fire extinguisher location
- Stretcher location
- Eyewash station
- First aid location
- Evacuation equipment location
- Survival equipment location
- Rescue anchorage location
