A
  • When all points of isolation are to be removed, all personnel within the working party are to be informed.

Q

Describe what is meant by “Clearance and Cancellation”…

A
  • All guards, covers and access doors have been replaced.
  • All rubbish, tools and loose equipment have been removed.
  • The working party have been withdrawn and warned that work is no longer safe to continue.

This section also allows the AT to report any restrictions or limitations on the WTG. This must be relayed back to the OC upon transferring back control of the WTG. If the OC agrees on the return of control to themselves, a record will be made both on the AWP and on the OC’s end.

In cases where the restrictions or limitations could present operational issues with the WTG or danger to personnel, the Authorising Engineer should be contacted and remedial action should be discussed.
If the remedial work does not fall under the scope of the current AWP, a new one will be advised by the AE and should be issued to allow the AT/working party to carry out the repair.

Q

Describe what is meant by “Alarms and Warning when starting the WTG”…

A

After completion of work there may be alarms and warnings present on the WTG. The alarms and warnings should be investigated for any serious errors that may now be present. Once the AT is confident that all alarms and warnings can be reset safely, they should be acknowledged.

Q

Describe what is meant by “Transfer of Control (Return)”…

A

Once the AT is happy with the conditions on the turbine and that all alarms and warnings are clear, the WTG should run and be placed back into production. At this point, the AT will enact the transfer of control with the OC, stating…

  • Location
  • Full name
  • limitations/restrictions

After this, the OC will give their name and a time that they received control back from the AT. This should be recorded on the AWP. The AT will then sign the signature checkpoint.

Q

Describe what is meant by “Surrender record and Safe Custody”…

A
  • The surrender record is used when work is to be carried over to another shift. Isolations will be left in place and section 6, PART 1 of the AWP is to be completed.
  • Comments should be input in the “Comments” section of section 6, informing the oncoming party of the point at which work was stopped.
  • The working party will be informed and instructed to stop work, removed to a safe area and will removed their blue padlocks from the lockbox.
  • The OC will be informed of the surrendered AWP upon the return of control.
  • The lockbox (being secured only with the green control lock) and AWP should be handed directly to the oncoming AT, if not, it should be placed into safe custody wither with a GE supervisor, GE manager or AE.
  • When the oncoming AT receives the surrendered AWP and lockbox, they will enact the transfer of control with the OC and fill in PART 2 of section 6 on the AWP.
  • The new AT will check all POI’s are still in place, countersigning each point on the AWP.
  • The new working party will apply their personal blue padlocks.
