Name some of the different safety equipment used in ESP?
A
- Electrical Safety PPE
- Locks and Lock-boxes

What are the four different types of locks used in ESP?
A
- Safety Locks (Red), used by the AT to secure points of isolation (POI). Keys to these padlocks are placed in the lockbox.
- Personal Locks (Blue), used by the working party and applied to the lockbox once all isolations are in place.
- Control Lock (Green), used by the AT to secure the lockbox and allowing the surrender of the AWP to another AT.
- General Safety Lock (Orange), used to establish local control before work is carried out. It ensures that no remote access can be gained while the AT has turbine control.

What device is used to Test for Dead?
A
A Voltage Absence Tester (VAT) and proving unit will be used. The device must be stated in the document, “Approved List of CoHE Tools and Equipment”.

No persons shall be engaged in any work or testing on or near exposed live LV equipment unless:
A
- It is unreasonable in all circumstances for it to be dead.
- It is reasonable in all circumstances to be at work on or near it while it is live.
- Suitable precautions (including, where necessary, the provision of suitable protective equipment) are taken to prevent injury.
