Define gynaecological polyp.
An overgrowth of cells.
An endometrial polyp is where the cell overgrowth is located in the endometrium of the uterus. A cervical polyp is an overgrowth that develops in the cervix.

Increased oestrogen

Relatively common
Recognise the presenting symptoms of gynaecological polyp. Recognise the signs of gynaecological polyp on physical examination.
Generally no symptoms and found incidentally on USS
Oligomenorrhoea
Vaginal bleeding
Heavy periods
Identify appropriate investigations for gynaecological polyp and interpret the results.

Generate a management plan for gynaecological polyp.
Small polyps (<1cm) may be managed expectantly because they may spontaneously regress. Polyp removal should be considered in symptomatic women, postmenopausal women or women with fertility issues.
