what is the MOA of finasteride?
5a alpha reductase inhibitor which converts testosterone into DHT (dihydrotestosterone)
what is finasteride used for?
BPH
how does tamsulosin work?
alpha blocker which selectively blocks the alpha 1 receptors in the bladder beck and prostate causing a relaxation of the smooth muscle.
what does oxybutynin do?
stops bladder spasming -antimuscarinic on bladder
how does prostatitis present?
pain `
severe urinary issues
what are the first line investigations for epidydimo-orchitis?
NAATs for infections
what is prehn’s sign and what does it mean?
pain in testicle reduces if you elevate scrotal skin
positive in infection (epidydimo-orchitis), negative in testicular torsion
