16
Q

What is the sympathetic innervation of the GI tract

A

Splanchnic nerve - inhibitory - decreases secretion and motility

17
Q

What arteries supply what areas of GI tract

A

Coeliac trunk supplies foregut:
Stomach
Small intestine
Pancreas
Liver

Superior mesenteric artery supplies midgut:
Small intestine
Caecum
Ascending colon
Transverse colon

Inferior mesenteric artery supplies hind gut:
Descending colon
Sigmoid colon
Rectum

18
Q

Describe venous drainage of the GI tract

A

Stomach - gastric veins
Pancreas - splenic veins

midgut:
Small intestine
Caecum
Ascending colon
Transverse colon
drained by - superior mesenteric vein

Hindgut:
Descending colon
Sigmoid colon
Rectum
drained by - inferior mesenteric vein

All GI tract drain to hepatic portal vein then to hepatic vein and then into the IVC
