What is a Material Safety Data Sheet? (MSDS)

• Document identifying the chemical composition of substances in the facility. SDS sheets contain what the chemical is composed of, First aid, PPE required, What to do if exposed, Storage info and spill response

What is a Chemical approval form and how is it used?

Answer 2

• Used when introducing a new chemical to the facility. Weather to replace an existing chemical or bring in new.
• All departments should report the info to PM. Specifying why they need it and who will use it.
• PM reviews & signs off on chemical approval forms
• Add to SDS binder

What are the four different scenarios that require proper management of MSDS?

Answer 3

1. All chemicals in the facility
2. All products sold by SSR’s provided to the customers (soap, air fresheners)
3. All products sold by sanis, tile and carpet provided to the customers (cleaning chemicals)
4. Standard rental agreement requires customers to inform Cintas if they use any chemicals that could get on their garments (true green)

How should MSDS be managed at the plant? How are partners provided with access to these MSDS?

Answer 4

• Must be maintained in the plant in 3 ring binders
• Must be readily available to partners and not locked up
• Located at safety center
• Separate 3 ring binder for Customer SDS listing customer chemicals that could be on soiled product
• Partner can request and print the SDS at anytime

• What is the Plant Manager’s responsibility in Lockout / Tagout? Cintas Energy Control Program – LOTO

• Provides proper devices for partners
• Enforces the program requirements
• To make sure Maintenance understands the requirements
• To make sure it is being executed in accordance with LOTO
• To make sure annual trainings are being conducted

• What is the Plant Manager’s responsibility in NFPA 70E Arc Flash Safety Program?- electrical safety in the work place (anyone work over 50 volts or more)

• To make sure Maintenance understands the requirements, wears their equipment, and does proper testing on voltage rated equipment
• To make sure it is being executed in accordance with NFPA guidelines
• To make sure annual trainings are being conducted
• Reports issues to the GM
