Q

What is the purpose of an “air dryer” and why is it important?

A
  • Removes moisture from our compressed air.
  • Compressed air causes moisture to condense, wet air causes corroded air lines and damage to air solenoids and components in our equipment.

Q

What is the purpose for a water/filter trap and oiler on the compressed air inlet for each piece of equipment?

A
  • Water/Filter trap= Prevents moisture from entering the machine
  • Oiler= lubricates the valves in machine

Q

If an air compressor is unloaded or unloading, what does this mean?

A
  • That it has met its set pressure point and is no longer compressing air.
  • Never want to do an E-stop as this will hard stop the air compressor. Want to do a normal shut down to allow the pressure to release slowly and naturally.

Q

Since the air compressor is so important to our plant, why don’t we have a back-up unit?

A
  • Our plant has a backup compressor.

* Having to rent a compressor can be far more expensive then investing in a backup compressor.
