B- The USA has faced backlash for the inequalities in America and have tried to introduce programmes to help reduce the inequalities
F- Many programmes the government have put into place include of TANF, ESSA, AA and the affordable care act
LA- This essay will argue how these government responses have affected inequalities to a extent
Paragraph one- TANF
P- TANF
E- TANF was introduced to tackle child poverty by supporting single parents by offering employability and childcare support
EX- Since TANF was introduced in 1996, the child poverty rate among single parents has fallen. It is currently at one of its lowest levels.
A- This proves that TANF has helped children in poverty along with supporting single parents
H- However many argue it isnt decreasing rates as much as it should
E- People think that TANF isnt helping poverty strucken children or single parents as much as it should be
EX- The level of child poverty in the US is one of the highest in the developed world – only 2 other countries have higher rates.
A- This shows that although TANF is tackling child poverty it isnt effective in supporting the majority of needy families
C- TANF has impacted USA inequalities to a moderate extent. Although on the surface level it seems as if it is a good support service it isnt as effective as it needs to be

P- ESSA
E- ESSA helps in tackling education inequalities, it encourages students to get better qualifications and to go onto further education.
EX- Led to high-school graduation rates in USA being at an all-time high – for African Americans. It now stands at 80%
A- This emphasizes that it has increased the rate of ethnic minorities staying on at school.
H- Although many found that education had been pushed aside by many politicians
E- Once Trump became President he didnt focus on the education system as much as Obama did
EX- President Trump was criticised for not prioritising education in the public sector.
A- This shows how especially republicans arent passionate on getting involved and changing the educational system for the best
C- ESSA has impacted inequalities in the USA to a moderate extent. Although Obama had good intentions when creating ESSA it has been pushed aside by Trump, effecting the impact it created

E- AA is targeted towards reducing inequalities in education and employment for minorities in America.
EX- Due to AA, number of women enrolled at US colleges has doubled.
A- This emphasizes the positive impact that AA has had on encouraging minorities to enrol in further education
H- Some states havent seen the impact of AA
E- Many argure that AA hasnt made much of a difference in helping minorities
EX- 50% of 2015–2016 high school graduates in Mississippi were African American, but were just 12.9 percent of University of Mississippi undergraduates.
A- This shows that the programme hasnt encouraged all minorities to go onto further education.
C- AA has impacted inequalities in the USA to a moderate extent. Although it has been effective for some minorities, others dont find it useful

E- Affordable care act (also known as Obamacare) was introduced to help tackle health inequalities and support those who couldnt afford health care
EX- In 2021 President Biden’s Health Secretary Becerrra released a report showing 31 million Americans had health coverage through the Affordable Care Act – a record.
A- This emphasizes that this programme has helped a large majority of Americans, offering them support with health care.
H- Many minorities arent finding support within this programme
E- People argue that African Americans arent getting the same health care support as whites
EX- African Americans remained 1.5 times more likely to be uninsured than whites from 2010 to 2018.
A- This shows how this programmes is much more effective for whites than it its for African Americans
C- The affordable care act is effective in tackling inequalities to a moderate extent. Although it has had a large impact on many its evident that its leaving out some minorities who arguably need health care support the most due to high poverty rates especially found in minorities
