E-Many elders struggle to survive the cost of living crisis when just surviving off theyre pension
EX- 1.7 million pensioners where living in poverty in 2020/2021
A- This demonstrates how almost two million pensioners are living in poverty due to not receiving enough money from theyre pension
H- The number of pensioners in poverty is slowly decreasing due to extra support
EX- Pensioner poverty rate has fallen to 15% according to the latest data from 2023 JRF 2023
A- This shows how the government is trying to support pensioners through the cost of living the best they can however many pensioners are still living in poverty conditions
Ethnic minorities
P- Ethnic minorities
E- Its proven that ethnic minorities are more inclined to face poverty than whites due to issues such as language barriers
EX-They were 2.2 times more likely to be in deep poverty than white people.
A- This proves that Ethnic minorities are more likely to face deep poverty than whites due to issues surrounding unemployment due to issues such as language barriers
H- The government has taken notice of this and have said that theyre trying to get rid of this predjice
EX-The government have devised an action plan as they have set out a plan to try and tackle the ethnic minority pay gap, and tackle health disparities17 Apr 2023
A- This proves that the government is trying to support ethnic minorities in poverty
Children
P- Children living in poverty are more likely to develop poor physical health, including longer-term conditions.
EX- Cases of ‘Victorian diseases’, including malnutrition, scurvy & rickets, have quadrupled since the economic crash of 2008; many of these cases among children.
A- This shows that children living in poverty are at greatest risk of health implications which can have significant impact on their development in later life, including their education.
H- Schools have supported children living in poverty by implying things like free school meals and free period products
E- To tackle period poverty all school offer access to free sanitary products. This has helped improve school attendance rates.
A- This shows that although schools are helping children in poverty more needs to be done to support them at home as well
