Cause?
A
bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae or gonococcus

transmission?
A
Sexual contact with an infected person.
Mother to baby during delivery.

Symptoms?
A
not clearly visible and may not show symptoms.

Symptoms in males
A
Yellow, white or green discharge from the penis
Pain/burning when passing urine
Painful or swollen testicles.

Symptoms in females?
A
Vaginal discharge
Burning when passing urine
Irregular vaginal bleeding
Lower abdominal pain or pain during sex.

Treatment?
A
Antibiotics like penicillin. Take all medication to cure gonorrhoea

Prevention?
A
Safe sex by using a condom. Abstain from sex. Avoid having sex with an infected person Limit number of sexual partners Visit a doctor if you suspect an infection Confirm sexual history of partner Have regular STI check-ups
