What is Ecology?
The study of interactions between organisms and their environment.
What is an Ecosystem?
A specific geographic area where a community of organisms interact with each other and their physical environment.
What is a Habitat?
The natural home of an organism
What is the definition of Species?
A group of organisms with similar characteristics are able to interbreed and produce fertile offspring.
What does Population mean?
A group of organisms belonging to the same species which live in the same habitat.
What is a Community?
All different populations living in the same habitat (2 or more)
What are Biotic Factors?
Living organisms
What are Abiotic/ Physical factors?
Non- living organisms that have nothing to do with the organisms in the ecosystem, but influence them just as much as living things.
What is a Predator?
An animal that hunts another animal for food
What is a Prey?
The animal being hunted by the predator for food.
Carnivore.. what is it?
only feeds on other animals
Hmm what’s a Herbivore?
Only feeds on plants
And what about an Omnivore?
feeds on both plants and animals
What is a Producer?
Makes its own food
What’s a Consumer?
Depends on other organisms for food
