Golgi Apparatus Flashcards
What is the Golgi apparatus?
organelle responsible for sorting and addressing
Define: target sorting
sorting into specific vesicles
Define: default sorting
non-specific sorting
What is the addressing domain?
its where the trans end of the Golgi label where things go
Define: exocytosis
vesicles leave the cell
What happens to the membrane of vesicles that leave the cell?
They get added to the plasma membrane
What are COP coats?
coltmer proteins that help form vesicles
What do coltmer proteins transport?
they are non-specific and move anything through the cisternae
What coating does the sorting domain have?
clathrin coat
What are T-snares?
they are the addresses
What are V-snares?
they are the envelopes
Define: fusogens
they fuse the membrane
What is the cis face?
its the part of the Golgi where membranes will fuse with the Golgi
How do vesicles get to the trans face?
they travel from cisternae to cisternae until they reach
Define: dolichole
lipid in the membrane built in the cytoplasm
What does dolichole have on it?
sugar trees
How does the dolichole get in the lumen?
flippase flips it
Which proteins does dolichole add sugar tress to?
Ones that have the sequence asparagine x-serine theronine
Wich way do sugar tress face in the ER?
they face the lumen
Explain the assembly of the membrane
phospholipids are in a watery environment, so they bind to CoA which is hydrophilic and a glycerol and phosphate is added and then they are inserted into the membrane
