Adjective

Alliteration
The repetition of the same consonant sound at the beginning of words e.g. The rifle’s rapid rattle

The build up of details, increasing in intensity, often to a climax.
Allusion
A reference to another event, place, person, or piece of literature
Ambiguity
Words or phrases in which the meaning is unclear or which has more than one possible interpretation
Anachronism
An action or object in a play or other text which is not in keeping with the historical period being duplicated
Anticlimax
A sudden effect of banality, a let down, either intentional or unintentional, in a pose or verse, sometimes for comic effect.

Opposing or contrasting ideas in next-door sentences or clauses.

Old-fashioned; used to describe words which are seldom used any more
