What are the effects of Globalisation?

A

Policing is harder
New crimes (cyber crime) MALCOLMS AND PLUMMER new worlds of crime.
New ways to commit (on the web/24hr banks)
Less risk as harder to identify.

YOUNG - Global consumer market, increases bulimic society and encourages shift to crime.
SUPPLY AND DEMAND - consumer advertising increases desire for products and a better life, more market for illegal trafficking. Drugs rd world supply, 1st world demand.

Individualism
Bauman - Less welfare state, increased self reliance, more crime.
TAYLOR - More individual choices, individual seen as greater than society so commit crime.

BECK
Global risk society, more uncertainty as even less control, hard to even identify threat. Moral panic against anyone different, create hate crimes etc.

UASH AND URRY- Disorganised capitalism - less regulations and control. make in one nation, sell to another.
TAYLOR - this increases job insecurity and unemployment in west encouraging crime. Companies exploit labour force and break labour laws.
