What is health?
Interrelation of physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional components. Health means balance, absence of disease, and movement.
What is health for general population and health care worker theme?
GP- multi sided, self management, subjective
HCW- subjective, multi sided, adapts to change, wellbeing, functioning
What is medical approach, behavioural, and socioenvironmental approach to health?
MA- Focus on physiology, pathology, and treat disease.
B- focuses on lifestyle
SA- focus on social context of health and social equity
What is global health?
Area of study/research/practice that places priority on increasing and achieving equity in health for all worldwide, Fundamental human right. Refers to health issue that concerns many countries and is affected by transactional determinants (climate change, urbanization).
What is health disparity?
Difference in health indicators that persists over time. Difference in access to healthcare by group. Raised from unequal power relations and social inequities (income, housing, education).
What are some indices of health disparities?
Mortality rate, disease, birth rate, morbidity, nutritional status, life expectancy.
What were millennium development goals?
8 goals in 2000 by the UN. Addressing key health and development goals. Leaders from different sectors collaborated to resolve global issues.
What are sustainable development goals?
17 universal goals created by the UN in 2015. Objective was to fight inequality to end poverty/address climate change for all by 2030. Call for action by all countries.
