Used for nausea/vomiting, motion sickness & in high doses schizophrenia and anxiety

Promethazine (Phenergan) and Prochlorperazine (Compazine)
Contraindications of Phenothiazines
Hypersensitivity, asthma, caution with GI obstruction and COPD
Side effects of Phenothiazines
- Constipation
- Dry mouth
- Dizzy/drowsy
Adverse effects of Phenothiazines
- Respiratory depression
- Dyspnea

Hypersensitivity
Side effects of Ondansetron
- Headache
- Constipation
- Fatigue/drowsy
Adverse effects of Ondansetron
Angioedema (Sudden swelling of face, hands, and genitals)
Nursing interventions w/ Ondansetron
Assess GI system (bowel sounds/movements)
Patient education w/ Ondansetron
Avoid driving w/ fatigue/drowsy
Antidiarrheals
Used for diarrhea
