the height between the contour lines
steep terrian on topographic maps is shown when…
the contour lines are closer together (also the further apart means less steep, more gentle, gradual or flat)
what is gradient
the relative steepness on a topographic map
legend/key
where they show what the symbols mean (eg. a tree means there is a park at that point)
contour interval
the difference in elevation between contour lines steeper areas still follow the same contour interval because the height of hills and mountains add to the distance. All contour lines have the same contour interval.
how to read a grid reference
the first two numbers and the fourth and fifth digit represent the big numbers while the third and sixth numbers represent the small more exact numbers
