What is a source ?
A source is where a river begins,high up in the mountain.
What is a river basin?
The area drained by a river and its tributaries.
What is a water shed?
The high ground that separates two river basins.
What is a river course?
The journey the river takes to the sea.
What are interlocking spurs?
They are criss crossing hills that form as the river erodes the softer rocks.
What are tributaries?
They are smaller river that join a larger river at a confluence.
What is a oxbow lake?
It form when meanders are cut off.
What is the mouth ?
The mouth of the river is where it enter the sea.
What is a estuary?
It’s the part of the river affected by tides. Sometimes a delta will be deposited here.
What are levees?
Levees are ridges of sediments deposited on the banks of the river in the lower course.
What are meanders?
They are the bends that form in the middle course of a river due to greater lateral erosion.
What is a water fall?
It’s a vertical drop in the upper course of a river formed by vertical erosion.
