What is the pleural cavity?
The space that lies between the pleura, two thin membranes that line and surround the lungs
What is the pericardial cavity?
It surrounds the heart
What is the mediastinum?
It is the central part of the thoracic cavity, it contains the heart, thymus, oesophagus, trachea, and several large blood vessels
What is the thymus
Small gland in the lymphatic system that makes and trains special white blood cells called T-cells
What organs are found in the abdominal cavity?
Stomach, spleen, liver, gallbladder, small intestine, most of the large intestine
What organs are found in the pelvic cavity?
Urinary bladder, portions of the large intestine, internal reproductive organs
Which muscle separates the thoracic cavity from the abdominal cavity?
Diaphragm
What organs are found in the upper right quadrant of the abdomen?
Liver, stomach, gallbladder, duodenum, right kidney, pancreas, transverse colon, right adrenal gland, small intestine
