Fuel System Flashcards
How many fuel tanks?
2
Where are the tanks located?
One in each wing - inside of the torque box toward the inner wing
Fuel Quantity Per Tank (Total and Usable)? Total?
Per Tank - 26.4g (25.6g Usable)
Total - 52.8g (51.2g Usable)
Fuel Type
Avgas 100LL (Not preferred but all we have in the US)
Number of Fuel Selectors
2 - 1 selector for each wing tank
How many fuel sumps are there?
4 - 1 in each tank, 1 in each Gascolator (Filter)
Where is the Gascolator and what is its purpose?
At the lowest point in the engine bay, put there to collect any sediment or fuel contaminants.
Fuel Selector Options
Off, Tank to Engine, Crossfeed (Off, Left, Right)
Fuel pressure (min-max)
2.2psi-5.8psi (or 7.26psi)
How many fuel pumps?
4 - one engine driven (per engine) and one electric (per engine)
How does fuel flow from the tanks?
Tanks -> Selectors -> Gascolators -> Electric Fuel Pump (with internal filter) -> Mechanical Fuel Pump -> Carburetors (either left or right) -> Engine
- Excess fuel not used by the carburetors are routed to a fuel pressure sensor, then a return line back to the tanks
Fuel System Diagram
What type of carburetors are in the 912S3?
Constant Depression Carburetors
What do Constant Depression Carburetors allow for?
Automatic mixture control
