Fuel Flashcards
How many fuel tanks do we have?
3
Left wing tank, center tank, right wing tank
What is the total fuel capacity?
Approx 42,000 lbs
What do the suction valves do?
Permit gravity feed to associated engine in the event both wing tank pumps fail
Can the center take gravity feed?
No, not equipped with suction valves
Describe the auto MODE for the center tank pumps
- perform self-test after engine start (2 mins)
- continue to operate until slats are extended
- resume operation when slats are retracted
- run for short 5 mins after center tank low level is reached and then automatically turn off
- will also shut off momentarily for wing tanks to burn down to allow room for IDG return fuel
What would cause a fuel MODE SEL amber FAULT light?
- failure of auto mode
- When center tank has more than 550 lbs and left or right tank has less than 11,000 lbs.
What is the normal inflight fuel tank burn order?
Center tank then wing tanks
How many fuel pumps are installed?
7
- 2 in each wing tank (4)
- 2 in the center tank
- 1 APU pump
When do the wing tank fuel pumps run?
Continuously when in the ON position (lights out)
What is center tank fuel pump logic when in MAN mode?
Pumps operate continuously when pb is selected ON. No shut off logic
When do the main tank outer cells drain into the inner cells?
When the inner tank quantity reaches a predetermined level (approx. 1650 lbs)
If only one inner tank reaches the low level, what happens to the other transfer valves?
All 4 transfer valves open
Once opened to transfer fuel, how are the fuel transfer valves closed?
Automatically at the next refueling operation
What does an amber FAULT light in the TK PUMP pb indicate?
Low fuel delivery pressure
Can fuel be transferred from one tank to another?
Only on the ground
