7
Q

What is the difference between a green CB and a black CB?

A

Green= monitored by the FWS; out more than a minute, then an ECAM is generated

Black= not directly monitored by the FWS; component protected by a black CB is monitored directly by the FWS

9
Q

What is Allegiant’s CB reset policy?

A

Do not reset a tripped CB in flight
On the ground: only reset a CB under the direction of mx. Only attempt 1 reset
*CA can exercise emergency authority and rest a CB if necessary for the safe continuation

Q

How is the battery and charging system check during the Cockpit Preparation?

A
  • Select the ECAM ELEC page
  • Place BAT 1 and BAT 2 pb’s to OFF
  • Check that the battery voltage is above 25.5 volts
  • Place BAT 1 and 2 pb’s to AUTO
  • Check that both battery charge currents drop below 60 amps with 10 seconds
  • Deselect the ECAM ELEC page

11
Q

Will the batteries completely drain if you leave the BAT switches in the AUTO after AC power is removed?

A

No, battery cut-off logic prevents complete discharge when the aircraft is on the ground and unpowered

Q

How does the GALLEY pb work in AUTO?

A
  • Sheds main galley if inflight with only one generator running
  • On ground: all galleys are available when the APU GEN or EXT PWR is supplying

17
Q

When is it normal to see the ENG GEN FAULT light illuminated?

A

Prior to engine start

18
Q

What does the APU GEN FAULT light indicate?

A

The GCU has detected a fault

19
Q

What is the function of the BUS TIE in the AUTO position?

A

Allows the BUS TIE contactors to open and close automatically to maintain power to both AC BUS 1 & 2 in the preferential order of:

  • Respective ENG GEN
  • EXT PWR
  • APU GEN
  • Opposing ENG GEN
20
Q

What is the logic of the BUS TIE in the OFF position?

A

The only power source that can be applied to AC BUS 1 and 2 is their respective ENG GEN

21
Q

What does IDG stand for?

A

Integrated Drive Generator

22
Q

What is the function of the IDG?

A

Converts variable engine speed to constant speed for optimum generator operation

23
Q

Is the IDG oil system separate from the engine oil system?

A

Yes

24
Q

What cools IDG oil?

A

Fuel/Oil cooler that utilizes fuel flow from the associated engine’s fuel supply line

25
Q

What does an IDG FAULT light indicate?

A

IDG low oil pressure or high oil temp

26
Q

What precautions must you take when disconnecting an IDG?

A
  • Do not disconnect unless the engine is at or above idle RPM
  • IDG pb should not be pressed for more than 3 seconds
27
Q

What is the function of the AC ESS FEED pb in the normal position?

A

If AC BUS 1 is lost AC BUS 2 automatically feeds the AC ESS BUS

28
Q

What does the AC ESS FEED pb white ALT light indicate?

A

The AC ESS BUS is supplied by AC BUS 2

29
Q

What does a BAT FAULT light indicate?

A

Battery charging current is outside limits (BAT contactor opens)

30
Q

When would you expect to see the batteries connected to the BATTERY BUS?

A
  • APU start
  • Battery charging
  • On ground, batteries only and speed <50kts (FCOM DSC 24-10-30-30 p 14/18)
31
Q

With the APU green AVAIL light on and EXT PWR blue ON light illuminated, which system is powering the aircraft?

A

EXT PWR

32
Q

What powers the emergency generator?

A

Blue hydraulic system pressure generated by the RAT

33
Q

When does the RAT automatically deploy?

A

Inflight with loss of power to AC BUS 1 and 2

34
Q

What is the source of power during RAT deployment and approximately how long does it take?

A

Aircraft batteries…5-10 seconds

35
Q

What does the red FAULT light on the RAT & EMER GEN pb indicate?

A

The EMERG GEN is not supplying power to AC and DC ESS busses

36
Q

What does the SMOKE light in the GEN 1 LINE pb indicate?

A

Smoke detected in the avionics ventilation ducting

37
Q

Will there be any other indications of smoke on the overhead panel?

A

FAULT lights in the EXTRACT and BLOWER pb’s on the VENTILATION panel

38
Q

What happens when you push the GEN 1 LINE pb to OFF?

A

GEN 1 is isolated from the electrical system network and is only providing power to one fuel pump in each wing fuel tank

39
Q

Is there a way to manually deploy the RAT?

A

Yes, the guarded MAN ON pb

40
Q

Will the RAT deploy on the ground is the button is pushed?

A

Yes

41
Q

Do pilots ever use the EMER GEN TEST pb?

A

No- maintenance function only
