Fuel Flashcards
What is the primary pump used to transfer fuel from the tank to the engine?
Main ejector pump
Can a fueler determine the amount in the plane if it is unpowered?
Yes because the fuel panel is connected to the hot battery bus.
What happens when the fuel cross feed selector is set to low 1?
AC fuel pump 2 is turned
Both engines are supplied fuel from high tank 2
How many tanks does the ERJ 175 have?
2 each divided into a collector, main and surge tank
What position should you set the cross feed to when preforming a cross feed?
Low side
What are the different fuel pumps?
AC pump
DC pump
Main Ejector pump
Can you takeoff or land with the fuel selector set to crossfeed?
No
How can you crossfeed fuel into the opposite tank?
Set the selector to low tank
This activates the high side AC pump
The extra fuel flow will be pumped into the low tank
What are the indications of a fuel leak?
Fuel imbalances develops Excessive fuel flow to one engine Fuel in one take decreases at an abnormal rate Fuel smell Fuel spraying from wing Unexpected difference from release
Can you see the low fuel light if you have more than emergency fuel on board?
Yes
Can we directly transfer fuel when crossfeeding?
No
How do we transfer fuel between tanks?
Select the low tank with the fuel crossfeed. This turns
on AC pump on the high side to push more fuel to the
low side + burning both engine from the same tank
(excess fuel returned to low tank)
Can we takeoff and land with crossfeed on?
No
What is the fuel imbalance limitation?
794 lbs
When does the fuel imbalance EICAS message appear?
800 lbs
